Introduction to a new Columnist

Aleksandre Roderick-Lorenz joined the writing crew at the CNY Latino Newspaper this month. He will be writing about various subjects such as music, art, literature, 
metaphysics, spirituality, films, gay culture, politics, education, history, featured interviews and other thought-provoking topics of interest. His column will carry the epithet: Discourse & Imaginaries.
Aleksandre is Latin American violist, conductor, pedagogue and literarian. He hails from Caracas where his musical foundation began under the auspices of the famed “El Sistema” organisation in Venezuela. A versatile musician, he enjoys a dynamic career as soloist, chamber musician and teacher.
As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausini, Natalie Cole, Franco de Vita and II Volo. His eclectic career has encompassed performances at the Latin Grammy, Billboard Music Awards, Premios Juventud, Miami Life Awards, Lo Nuestro Awards and numerous televised appearances for Venevision, America TV, Ávila TV, Mega TV, Telemundo and Univision.
Other artistic collaborations include luminaries such as Plácido Domingo, Ruben Studdard, Celtic Woman, Johnny Mathis, Paloma San Basilio, Oscar D’Leon, Marco Antonio Solis, Peter Schickele and the Electric Light Orchestra.
Recent highlights include an appearance as soloist and conductor with the Syracuse University Symphony Orchestra and his national radio debut at WQXR’s McGraw Hill Financial Young Artist Showcase under Robert Sherman.
A sought-after teacher, he has served on the faculties of Miami’s ViolaFest, Miami Dade College Honors Music Festival and Arts Ahimsa. In New York, he was the Viola Teaching Assistant of Laura Bossert at the Setnor School of Music. He also served as Musical Director at La Casita Cultural Center of Syracuse University, where he received the certificate of Teaching Excellence.
Mr. Roderick-Lorenz has won 1st prize at four competitions and has been the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation from Miami Dade County Office of the Major and Board of County Commissioners and other recognitions for his artistry and academic success such as the Otto Sussman Trust and three grants: Community Arts Grant, Collaborative Arts Grant and the Undergraduate Research and Creative Engagement Grant “The Source.”
He currently lives in Boston and serves in multiple faculties as a Teaching Artist. Amongst his many projects, he is presently writing a book as co author with internationally acclaimed novelist Akari Berganzo. He is also a founding member of the Lyrica Chamber Orchestra, a Boston based and recently emerging citizen’s artist ensemble that seeks to create social change through music. In Syracuse, he was one of the pioneers in creating the ArtHouse Alliance.
He holds an Associate’s Degree from Miami Dade College and graduated with distinctions and high praise from Syracuse University where he studied Viola Performance and Spanish Literature.
