Living Word – August 2012
Dear reader
Through the bible we have three aspects of great importance that Jesus brings up in the book of John chapter 14 verse 6. Jesus identifies himself as the way, the truth and the life. In the previous writings we reflected on the first two aspects, Jesus as the way and Jesus as the truth. Today we will be reflecting on Jesus as the life. Jesus understood this word to the fullest. HE was giving a new meaning to the word life. What does this means? That only through Jesus is that men, who is dead is his natural state because of sin, could find life. Jesus did not want to confine the word life to the basic concept that men has given to it. Jesus took the word to the maximum level. If we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior we go from a state of spiritual death to life. The bible says in 1 John 5:12 that “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” The bible clearly shows that even though we may breathe, walk, talk, eat among many other things, if we don’t have the Son we have nothing. Jesus is the only source of life.
You may have heard of a bible passage that talks about the death of a man name Lazarus, friend of Jesus. The bible talks about a face to face encounter with death. When Jesus arrived at the place where Lazarus body laid, He called out for Lazarus to come out and Lazarus came out of the tomb.
Jesus is the life, and the only one who has power over death. He has the power to bring back from physical, emotional or spiritual death anyone who may be dead or dying. The hope that Jesus brings to us is unique and is real. Every man must desire to attain the promise of the Father first and foremost, eternal life for every soul. If you have not recognized Jesus as your savior, if you have not accepted his sacrifice at the Cross, and have not recognized that He defeated death, today is the day to make that decision that will transform your way of thinking and your way of living. This decision will drive you to enjoy the promises of eternal life that are for everyone one that believes in Him.
