Unpaid Debts
A Moment of Reflection
by Lilia M. Fiallo
When Juanita completed her career, she did what for years had in her mind, obtain an important job. It was like that as she entered the Group of analysis and management of plans and projects of the Department of architecture, the House of Government. The good salary she received, allowed her to save to start the purchase of the apartment of her dream. She requested a loan from the Bank and gave her property a mortgage, paying the monthly installments.
But as a human being, we are never happy with what we have, but always want more and more, she took her credit card and bought the car of the year. Debts increased, as well as responsibilities. She had to comply with the commitments she had acquired, but quickly forgot it and followed monopolizing her credit cards, before complying with timely payment.
The time went without mercy, while she was at a crossroads unsettled. She forgot the lessons learned at home and the recommendations of her mother: “daughter, always remember to properly act in life, to allow the passage of the years ahead with pride and walk with dignity”.
Simply, those kinds of morals and basic principles went to the background. Debt to banks increased, to the point of negotiating to pay big interest. Finally, she put her feet on the ground and slowly pay off until the last amount.
Felipe had a project he wanted to crystallize. To open a restaurant in a privileged site because he was sure that it would grow financially. Since he had a long history of good credit, he went to the Bank and they gave him a loan, which enabled him to carry out his desire. In three years, he decided to open a branch site near there and so did. Since he could not personally attend the two businesses at the same time, he relied on the employees, the quality of the service offered to the customers was reflected. Ambition breaks the sack! Says the proverb.
Felipe had to pay the salary to the employees. Comply with different payments for the two restaurants to continue running, too, but because he did not see progress on sales and little by little everything was falling. He had to close the second business. He thought well and dedicated himself completely to cancel the obligations without having to jeopardize his health and his peace of mind.
Looking at the above, we can understand that material debts can be paid and sooner or later, with responsibility everyone is well.
Carlos is a military, retired pilot. He has a daughter who means everything in his life, she was the light of his eyes. He gave it was all for her. She completed her university studies in one of the most prestigious universities in the country, receiving her law degree. When the working life for Carlos ended, he devoted himself to rest, enjoying the days in the beautiful house he shared with his daughter. Carlos was suffering some losses of health, his daughter, secretly watched the situation and preparing the arsenal that she had kept in her head, she made the terrible decision to admit him in a home for elderly people.
Among Carlos’ friends, there were two who were faithful and loyal to him, Jose and Jaime, were former coworkers. Jose called to Carlos several times, without getting a response. Jaime did the same and wondered, what would have happened? He did not think more and called Jose. He also was not able to communicate with his friend Carlos. The two met and decided to investigate the fate of his friend.
They found him! They could not believe he was in a nursing home for elderly people, abandoned to his fate. He was as always, aware of his acts, lucid and with his five senses, with some health issues that could well cope with them at home. Before that, Jaime and Jose talked with Carlos, and managed to get him out of there. They took him back to his house. Arriving at his home, the surprise and disappointment could not be higher for Carlos. His house was destroyed, was vacant and completely changed.
The three friends began the proceedings before the authorities and Charlie recovered his house and continued his life. He copes with his life and attends his medical appointments. The betrayal made him reflect, and so he put aside the girl of his eyes.
Rectify and think before getting a spiritual debt to someone. Remember that there is no money in the world that can pay that kind of debt. These debts, also known as wounds remain forever in the soul, never heal!
Lilia M. Fiallo was born in Bogotá, Colombia, where, between tasks and free time, she found a place to write about subjects, somehow forgotten by others. With gold letters engraved in her memory, she began her working life, in the heart of the technical part, of the air traffic control of her native country. In the midst of aeronautical phraseology and codes, the world of aviation gave her one of the highest experiences, because of the precision required by this craft, where a single mistake could cost many lives. It is there, where in her concern to communicate her ideas, she begins to write with dedication, themes a little relegated by society, the Church and the State. Discovering a truth that nobody wants to talk about, but much more real and every day, than it seems. It is thus, as it appears, her first work, “Parir por parir”.
