Success of Mauricio Oliveros

This is the success story of a local Latino who went from working as a dishwasher to earning three college degrees and starring in a national Spanish-language television commercial for a leading restaurant company.

Red Lobster General Manager Mauricio Oliveros, who lives and works in Long Island, is featured in the restaurant’s Four Course Feast promotion currently airing on major Spanish-language television networks across the U.S. While Mauricio never expected to be selected for the spot, he feels honored to serve in the company’s first Spanish-language campaign, which features real employees.

Mauricio, who was born in Venezuela of Columbian decent, came to the U.S. when he was seven years old and has lived in Suffolk County for more than 20 years. He was the first in his family to graduate from college and earned degrees in international business, management and marketing.

His passion for working with people and food came at a young age – at 13 he worked as a dishwasher and then moved on to bus boy and server positions. Mauricio managed a few restaurants, and even started his own, before ultimately deciding to work in a corporate setting. He chose Red Lobster because everyone he met made him feel welcomed, and he was impressed to find their hospitality mentality matched his own.

As an expert in customer service, Mauricio has three tips he and his staff live by that would benefit anyone – from a stay-at-home parent to a CEO. This can be taken as another proud result of our Latino community.
